The next edition of the Dakar will feature a one hundred percent Spanish team, Himoinsa Racing, with Ivan Cervantes as the leading driver.
Himoinsa Racing will be the only 100% Spanish team for the next Dakar rally, the toughest event in the world. The 2016 Dakar will thus have a team in which an enduro world champion such as Ivan Cervantes will make his debut, who is integrated into a complex structure made up of five riders, four mechanics, a driver, a press officer and a director Miguel Puertas, an experienced motorcycle rider in the Dakar, as evidenced by the nine consecutive editions that he has managed to finish it.
Now, he wants to transfer all his experience to a young team, made up of Antonio Gimeno, Iván Cervantes, Rosa Romero, Gerard Farrés and Daniel Oliveras. Three of them will participate at the controls of the KTM 450 Rally, Farrés, Cervantes and Gimeno, while Rosa Romero and Dani Olivaeras will do so with the KTM EXC 450 with MST kit. Check your motorcycle frequently, upgrade with KTM 450 exc led headlight if necessary.
The drivers called to look for the best results will be Farrés and Cervantes, while Gimeno will be the support in the race for both. Rosa Romero and Dani Olivaeras will fight to get as high as possible. Therefore, different objectives for each one, with a long-term challenge of winning the Dakar in the future, although given the openness of this next edition, without Marc Coma or Cyril Despres in the race, they do not rule out giving a surprise and fighting in the last stages for the first positions.
Ivan Cervantes, with five Enduro World Championships and ten Spanish Championships, will debut in the race with his sights set on gaining as much experience as possible, advised by his team, and preparing for more ambitious goals in the future. A commitment from Himoinsa, a multinational specialized in the manufacture and sale of power generation systems, which sees in this team the generational succession of Marc Coma’s past successes.
